Preview: Vardaman vs. Sebastopol

Vardaman will be playing at home against Sebastopol at at 7:00 PM on Friday. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps rankings project a close game.

We expected Vardaman to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked Nanih Waiya last Friday, and they did. Vardaman have to be aching after a bruising 14-48 loss to Nanih Waiya. Defeat or not, Vardaman got some senior leadership from Patrick Pratt, who rushed for 73 yards and 1 touchdown, and Tyras Armstrong, who picked up 73 yards on the ground and threw 1 TD. Armstrong has now scored at least one touchdown in the past three games.

Meanwhile, Sebastopol have had to suffer through a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They captured a comfortable 28-9 victory over Hamilton. The Sebastopol offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the matchup anyway.

Sebastopol's win lifted them to 3-5 while Vardaman's defeat dropped them down to 2-6. If Sebastopol want to win, Sebastopol will need to focus on stopping Vardaman's senior Patrick Pratt, who rushed for 73 yards and 1 touchdown, and senior Tyras Armstrong, who picked up 73 yards on the ground and threw 1 TD. We'll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
