Baseball Game Preview: Regis Jesuit Raiders vs. Heritage Eagles

The Regis Jesuit Raiders will venture away from home to square off against the Heritage Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Heritage took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Regis Jesuit, who comes in off a win.

Regis Jesuit took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Rock Canyon with a sharp 10-0 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their two-run performance the match before.

Carter Rathbun was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jacob Olson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Douglas County. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Nick Laudano was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Jameson Switzer was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Regis Jesuit is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Regis Jesuit skirted past Heritage 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
