Baseball Game Preview: West Vigo Vikings vs. Shakamak Lakers

The West Vigo Vikings are taking a road trip to square off against the Shakamak Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games West Vigo has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

West Vigo blew Owen Valley out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Owen Valley got their revenge. The Vikings fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-3. The Vikings' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Shakamak had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They skirted past the Patriots 7-5.

Shakamak pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for West Vigo, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

West Vigo couldn't quite get it done against Shakamak when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
