Basketball Recap: Luling Comes Up Short

Luling extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 6-21. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Stockdale Brahmas. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Brahmas apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

As for Stockdale, with the victory, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-20. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Christian Martinez had an outrageously good game as he went 7-for-11 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. That's the most boards he has posted since back in November of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Martinez, who shot 44% from the field en route to 18 points and six rebounds.

Luling wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-47 defeat against Karnes City on the 3rd. As for Stockdale, they have also already played their next contest, a 72-69 win against Nixon-Smiley on the 3rd.
