Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Vikings vs. Heritage Patriots

The Montgomery Vikings and the Heritage Patriots will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Montgomery's tournament run continued when they took on Urban on Thursday. Montgomery fell 48-40 to Urban. The game marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-57 heartbreaker at the hands of Archie Williams.

Montgomery will have to contain Brady Lockrem as he made an impact in Heritage's last game. He posted 21 points. Julian Njelita was another key player, putting up eight points.

Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Montgomery, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season.

Everything went Montgomery's way against Heritage in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Montgomery made off with a 68-46 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montgomery since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
