Baseball Recap: Compton Triumphs

Compton proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by nine) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rancho Dominguez Lobos a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tarbabes have posted since April 12, 2025.

Not much got past Andrew Ruiz, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Rancho Dominguez off the board.

On the hitting side, Compton's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Arturo Loera, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Erik Vera was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Compton's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Rancho Dominguez, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Compton will venture away from home to square off against Firebaugh at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rancho Dominguez, they will take on King/Drew at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
