They had just enough and edged Leesville Road out 59-56. Given Cardinal Gibbons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Leesville Road is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Cash McSweeney, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 22 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Ronny Turner was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Cardinal Gibbons has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Leesville Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Cardinal Gibbons will be playing at home against Sanderson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Cardinal Gibbons' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Leesville Road, they will head out on the road to square off against Enloe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Enloe is coming into the matchup with five straight victories at home, so Leesville Road is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
