Baseball Recap: Kirtland Starts off Right with Win over Chagrin Falls

Kirtland had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Chagrin Falls Tigers 11-5. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 5-3 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Carter Luzar, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Conner, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Chagrin Falls and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kirtland will take on Jefferson Area at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chagrin Falls, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Wickliffe at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
