Baseball Game Preview: Marana Tigers vs. Tucson High Magnet School Badgers

Marana hasn't had much luck against Tucson High Magnet School recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will challenge the Badgers at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Marana didn't have quite enough to beat Cholla and fell 2-1. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brandon Collings was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 6.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last three games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tucson High Magnet School). They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Mountain View on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Badgers in their matchups with the Mountain Lions: they've now won six in a row.

Luis Camacho looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tenochtli Nepan Ollin was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aldo Teilon, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Tucson High Magnet School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive contests.

The win got Tucson High Magnet School back to even at 9-9. As for Marana, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Marana couldn't quite finish off Tucson High Magnet School when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
