Baseball Recap: Geneseo Beats Letchworth for Their Third Straight Win

Geneseo waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Letchworth Legends 16-2. Considering the Blue Devils have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryce Patterson and Tyler Churchfield made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Patterson pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Churchfield tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Patterson got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Churchfield went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Churchfield has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Preston Granger, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Davis, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Geneseo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Geneseo's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Letchworth, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Looking ahead, Geneseo will square off against Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Letchworth, they will challenge Le Roy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
