League recap: Swartz Creek extends winning streak with victory over Lapeer East

Swartz Creek extended the longest winning streak in Flint Metro this week by beating Lapeer East, 42-6. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Dragons.

Fenton made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,055 from 2,261. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 54-0 victory over Kearsley last week.

Jaylen Schoenfield put up the best numbers through the air as Swartz Creek beat the Eagles. He finished with 24 completions for 307 yards and five touchdowns. Schoenfield's favorite target this week was Tim Hill, who caught eight passes for 99 yards.

Patrick Ryan was the best wideout in the league this week as Linden bested Brandon. Ryan tallied two receptions for 121 yards. Travis Hull helped Linden's passing attack out by catching two balls for 57 yards.

Mitchell Ryan was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 89 yards on 13 carries as the Eagles beat the Blackhawks. Teammate Mitch Juhl added to the ground attack by rushing for 85 yards.

Swartz Creek's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Schoenfield has thrown for 1997 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while Max Cummings has 41 catches for 903 yards. James Richards leads the league in rushing with 513 yards.

Entering into this week's contest against Lapeer East, Shaye Brown is short just 142 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Brown has thrown for 1858 yards with 17 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Cummings of the Brad Brown's team's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 97 receiving yards in this week's game against the Tigers to get there.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Fenton takes on the Dragons. Jeff Setzke's team is in third place, while Swartz Creek is in first place.
