Softball Recap: Sylacauga Takes a Loss

Sylacauga was the 13-2 winner over Fayetteville when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Sylacauga fell just short of Fayetteville by a score of 8-7 on Friday. The Aggies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kinley Hathcock made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Harshberger, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Hathcock wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sylacauga kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.

Sylacauga's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Fayetteville, they moved to 4-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Sylacauga and Fayetteville will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time Sylacauga sees the field they'll take on Central of Clay County at 4:30 p.m. on April 1. As for Fayetteville, their break will end when they face Winterboro at 4:30 p.m. on the 31st.
