Football Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Lake Nona + How To Watch

Lake Nona waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 30-13 win over the Tohopekaliga Tigers. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

One reason for the win was Lake Nona's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 3.5 sacks. Khalid Feliz was especially locked on to Tohopekaliga's QB and sacked him twice. Lake Nona is undefeated when Feliz posts one or more sacks, but 2-3 otherwise.

Tohopekaliga's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of AJ Wise, who picked up 184 receiving yards and one TD, and Sabby Meassick, who threw for 366 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Wise was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 56 yards. A healthy portion of Meassick's aerial production (82 yards to be exact) also went to Tre Punter.

Lake Nona's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Tohopekaliga, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Lake Nona will venture away from home to square off against Innovation at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Lions 14.8, the Bulls 7.8) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Tohopekaliga, they will head out to take on Avon Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
