Basketball Game Preview: North Penn-Liberty Mountie vs. Canton Warriors

The North Penn-Liberty Mountie will venture away from home to take on the Canton Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Penn-Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while Canton will be coming in after a loss.

North Penn-Liberty is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Williamson 92-53 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mountie.

Meanwhile, Canton came up short against Northeast Bradford on Wednesday and fell 58-46. The Warriors have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

North Penn-Liberty will have to keep a close watch on Ben Fitch and Monte Whitehead, a pair of players who had a big impact on Canton's prior game. Fitch posted 13 points and eight boards, while Whitehead went 7 for 10 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Fitch a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Rylan Wesneski, who scored five points.

North Penn-Liberty pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Canton, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

North Penn-Liberty strolled past Canton when the teams last played back in January by a score of 63-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Penn-Liberty since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
