Basketball Game Preview: Cochranton Cardinals vs. Conneaut Area Eagles

The Cochranton Cardinals will square off against the Conneaut Area Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cochranton will be strutting in after a win while Conneaut Area will be coming in after a loss.

Cochranton took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 58-44 victory over West Middlesex.

Meanwhile, Conneaut Area was beaten by Girard 77-38 last Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost eight in a row.

Cochranton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Conneaut Area, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Cochranton came up short against Conneaut Area in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 75-65. Can Cochranton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
