Baseball Preview: Northmont Thunderbolts vs. Wayne Warriors
After two games on the road, Northmont is heading back home. They will take on the Wayne Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Northmont, who comes in off a win.
After only one run in their last game, Northmont made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sidney on Saturday. Northmont blew past Sidney 14-2.
Drake Sauber made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (he also didn't allow any walks). Sauber has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive pitching appearances. Sauber was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4.

Back at the plate, Northmont got a massive performance out of Brady Lupton, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Austin Welch, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.
Meanwhile, Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 4-1 to Lebanon. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Wayne has scored all season.
Wayne saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Anderson, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Northmont's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Northmont suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Wayne in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Northmont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
