Softball Recap: Southern Wayne Comes Up Short

Southern Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the South Johnston Trojans, falling 25-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Southern Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for South Johnston, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Looking ahead, Southern Wayne will take on Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Wayne is facing Smithfield-Selma at the right time seeing as Smithfield-Selma is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for South Johnston, they will host Triton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (South Johnston has won four straight at home, while Triton won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
