Baseball Recap: Giles County Bobcats vs. Summertown Eagles
Giles County had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 9-15 to make it five. They lost 12-2 to the Summertown Eagles. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Summertown, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
For Summertown's part, Ryder Blackwood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Blackwood has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 games.

Coming up, Giles County will challenge Lincoln County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Bobcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Summertown, they will square off against Spring Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
