Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission North Takes a Loss

Shawnee Mission North lost against Shawnee Mission Northwest back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Shawnee Mission North Bison were outmatched by the Shawnee Mission Northwest Cougars and fell 75-44. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while the Cougars are ranked second).

Shawnee Mission North's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Coming up, Shawnee Mission North will host Lawrence on Tuesday. Shawnee Mission North is facing Lawrence at the right time seeing as Lawrence is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Shawnee Mission Northwest, they will head out to square off against Lawrence Free State at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shawnee Mission Northwest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Lawrence Free State likes a good challenge.
