Softball Recap: Pickerington Central Has No Trouble Against Canal Winchester

While Pickerington Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Canal Winchester Indians on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Pickerington Central got a massive performance out of Camree Cunningham, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Those two stolen bases gave Cunningham a new career-high. Natalya Lim also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Cunningham wasn't the only one making solid contact: Pickerington Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The Tigers are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Pickerington Central and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Canal Winchester, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pickerington Central will venture away from home to face off against Teays Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Canal Winchester, they will head out on the road to square off against Grove City Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
