Volleyball Recap: Durham Academy Comes Up Short

Durham Academy was the 3-0 winner over Cary Academy when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Cavaliers fell 3-1 to the Chargers on Friday. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-18, 13-25, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Durham Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Alice Chen had 11 digs and one assist. Chen has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 15 times she's played.

Cary Academy found their leader in sophomore Shayna Goulding, who had 13 digs and eight assists.

Durham Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Cary Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-10.

While Durham Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
