Baseball Recap: Newton Starts Season with Loss at Home

Newton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Fairfield Mules on Monday, falling 10-0. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Newton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Ferguson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Coming up, Newton will head out on the road to challenge Flora at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grayville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
