Basketball Game Preview: Covenant Classical Warriors vs. NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks

The Covenant Classical Warriors will head out to challenge the NorthPoint Christian Academy NightHawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Covenant Classical will be strutting in after a victory while NorthPoint Christian Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, Covenant Classical didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Socrates Academy, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 643rd, while the Owls are ranked 76th).

Meanwhile, NorthPoint Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since November 22, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 65-40 to Lee Park Prep. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the NightHawks' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Despite the loss, NorthPoint Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gabe Spann went 6-for-15 on his way to 19 points. Spann's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Alvis, who posted eight points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Covenant Classical's win bumped their record up to 4-11. As for NorthPoint Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
