The Hinsdale Central Red Devils will face off against the De La Salle Meteors at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
Hinsdale Central fell victim to Downers Grove North and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Red Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, De La Salle waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Romans a 20-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Meteors, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Abby Trendle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Trendle was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Kayla Kamradt and Samara Agredano did most of the damage at the plate: Kamradt went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Agredano went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Kamradt has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Falconio, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
De La Salle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 13 consecutive games.
De La Salle pushed their record up to 23-7 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hinsdale Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Hinsdale Central came out on top in a nail-biter against De La Salle when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Meteors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
