Baseball Recap: Buckingham Charter's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Buckingham Charter took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Elite, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Buckingham Charter Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Elite Eagles on Saturday, sneaking past 5-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Jake Loos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Gavin Brearley was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also put up a stolen base, which was his first of the season. Wyatt Griffin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Buckingham Charter's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckingham Charter will take on Esparto at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elite, they will face off against Swett at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
