Football Recap: Woodburn Comes Up Short

Woodburn extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They were beaten by the Estacada Rangers 44-7. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in October of 2022.

As for Estacada, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. Considering they have won four contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Dane Carpenter had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 158 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Those 158 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Thomas Classen, who rushed for 77 yards and one score.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Woodburn is set to face off against their familiar foe Molalla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Estacada will take on rival Cascade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Rangers 14.8, the Cougars 12) so any points scored will be well earned.
