Basketball Recap: Mullen Broncos vs. South Loup
The Mullen Broncos lost against South Loup back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Mullen fell 36-26 to the. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mullen in their matchups with the : they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Mullen saw an underclassman step up: Georgia Wingebach scored four points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Wingebach pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Bryn Schwarz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Loup, scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Schwarz has scored at least a third of South Loup's points.
Mullen has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for South Loup, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mullen will take on the Knights at TBD on Tuesday. Sandhills/Thedford is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for South Loup, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Southern Valley will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
