Preview: Mechanicsburg Indians vs. Triad Cardinals
The Mechanicsburg Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Triad Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mechanicsburg is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Mechanicsburg scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took down West Jefferson 45-29. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Mechanicsburg has managed all season.
Mechanicsburg found their leader in underclassman Joshua Titus, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Chris Ritchie was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Triad was beaten by Fairbanks 80-42 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Triad can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 530th, while Fairbanks is ranked 254th).
Mechanicsburg's win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4. As for Triad, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Mechanicsburg ended up a good deal behind Triad in their previous matchup back in January, losing 60-42. Can Mechanicsburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
