Softball Game Preview: Shakopee Sabers vs. Rosemount Irish

The Shakopee Sabers will head out to face off against the Rosemount Irish at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Shakopee has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Shakopee didn't have quite enough to beat Burnsville and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Rosemount fell victim to Eagan and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 1-0. Irish fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wildcats since on Wednesday.

Jorey Fry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

Shakopee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Rosemount, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Shakopee couldn't quite get it done against Rosemount in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Sabers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
