Softball Recap: Anahuac Extends Winning Streak to Five

Anahuac waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Kountze Lions. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-3 back in March.

Emma Parkinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madison Willis, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Vana George-Wells was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Anahuac's record now sits at 13-17. As for Kountze, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Anahuac will square off against rival Orangefield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kountze is set to take on their familiar foe East Chambers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
