Baseball Recap: Madison's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Madison waltzed into their game on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Lowell Cardinals 10-0. Considering the Warhawks have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison got a great performance from Charlie Kroning as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Kroning a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Harrison Brown was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. William Barden also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Madison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lowell only posted an OBP of .125.

Madison pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lowell, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Madison will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against University City at 4:00 p.m. on the 14th. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warhawks 1.7, the Centurions 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Lowell, they have already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Burlingame on the 5th.
