Basketball Game Preview: Ellison Eagles vs. Belton Tigers

Ellison has won 18 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Belton has won 18 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Ellison Eagles will welcome the Belton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Ellison knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Belton likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Ellison earned a 59-51 victory over University. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Trojans are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Belton faced off against Chaparral on Tuesday. Everything went Belton's way against Chaparral as Belton made off with a 63-40 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Ellison has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Belton, their victory bumped their record up to 25-5.

Everything went Ellison's way against Belton when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Ellison made off with a 71-49 win. Will Ellison repeat their success, or does Belton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
