This week's postseason excitement didn't throw the rankings into complete disarray, but it did reorder the standings a decent amount. That and more in this week's report.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (15 consecutive games). Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ladue Horton Watkins beat Webb City 17 - 13. Ladue Horton Watkins saw its record improve to 15-0 and its power rank jump four places as a result.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Christian Brothers (1st in the power rankings) and Rockhurst (2nd) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Christian Brothers breezed past Rockhurst with a final score of 45 - 21. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Christian Brothers as the clear winner.
No Stoppin 'Em
Fort Osage and Battle went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (76) among all power ranked teams. Fort Osage scooted by Battle with a score of 46 - 30. Fort Osage especially relied on senior Blake Robertson, who earned two touchdowns and 136 yards rushing the ball, and senior Ty Baker, who ran for 106 yards and also punched in one touchdown.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Lathrop (16th in the power rankings) and Blair Oaks (9th). The teams have their eyes fixed on the championship after last-week playoff conquests. Both the Blair Oaks and Lathrop defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging 11 ppg and 7.64 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
