Soccer Game Preview: McDowell vs. St. Stephens

McDowell hasn't had much luck against St. Stephens recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Titans will challenge the Indians at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

McDowell fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Alexander Central on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, McDowell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Alexander Central are ranked 102nd).

Meanwhile, St. Stephens didn't have quite enough to beat Freedom on Wednesday and fell 3-2.

St. Stephens' defeat dropped their record down to 1-15-1. As for McDowell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6-3.

McDowell came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Stephens in their previous meeting on October 1st, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
