Baseball Recap: The Classical Academy Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

The Classical Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Mitchell Marauders get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The Titans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Marauders, too.

Grant Keeton made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Keeton was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Luke Cupples looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, The Classical Academy let Zack Hale and Zach Mediavilla run wild. Hale got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Mediavilla got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Mediavilla a new career-high. David St Marie was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

The Classical Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive contests.

The Classical Academy's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Mitchell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

The Classical Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mitchell: the pair will be back at it again later today.
