Football Recap: Rio Mesa Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Rio Mesa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 44-13 defeat at the hands of the Moorpark Musketeers on Friday. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Rio Mesa's loss came despite strong showings from Nate Warren-Lewis and Alec Fontyn. Warren-Lewis picked up 109 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Fontyn threw for 141 yards and two TDs. Warren-Lewis showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 64 yards.

Rio Mesa has already played their next matchup, a 22-14 loss against Camarillo on the 29th. As for Moorpark, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 21-0 victory against Centennial on the 29th.
