Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Hope vs. East Providence

The Mt. Hope Huskies are taking a road trip to challenge the East Providence Townies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Hope's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Mt. Hope is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Pilgrim, who was ranked 17th at the time (Mt. Hope was ranked 20th). Neither the Huskies nor the Patriots could gain the upper hand on Tuesday so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. That draw made it three straight for Mt. Hope.

Meanwhile, East Providence came up short against Barrington on Tuesday, falling 6-1.

East Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3-6. With that draw, Mt. Hope's record moves to 7-5-6.

Mt. Hope couldn't quite get it done against East Providence when the teams last played back in October of 2023 as they fell 4-2. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
