Soccer Game Preview: Lafayette vs. Suwannee

Lafayette is 0-9-1 against Suwannee since January of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. Lafayette has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Lafayette's offense. They lost 5-0 to Columbia on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lafayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 450th, while Columbia are ranked 178th).

Meanwhile, Suwannee entered their tilt with Eastside on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Rams. Jonathan Gomez had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Suwannee.

Lafayette's loss dropped their record down to 4-4-2. As for Suwannee, they now have a winning record of 7-6-3.

Lafayette suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Suwannee when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
