Recap: Community Christian Warriors vs. Fellowship Academy Mustangs
The Community Christian Warriors entered their tilt with the Fellowship Academy Mustangs with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Community Christian claimed a resounding 70-30 win over Fellowship Academy at home. Considering Community Christian has won six contests by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Jonathan Blackburn, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 18 rebounds, and 9 assists. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Marquez, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Fellowship Academy saw an underclassman step up: Bryce Baker scored 13 points. Baker scored a full 43.3% of Fellowship Academy's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Connor Fountain, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
Fellowship Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only a offensive rebound. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Community Christian pulled down 19.
Community Christian pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Fellowship Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Community Christian will head out on the road to face off against Covington at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fellowship Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against UME Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. UME Preparatory Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
