Football Game Preview: Franklin-Simpson Wildcats vs. Calloway County Lakers

The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats will challenge the Calloway County Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calloway County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Franklin-Simpson, who comes in off a win.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Franklin-Simpson and Warren East had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Wildcats snuck past the Raiders with a 42-36 win on Friday. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Raiders on their field since October 24, 2020.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Calloway County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a blow against Logan County, falling 48-14. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Cougars are ranked 27th).

Franklin-Simpson's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Calloway County, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-2.

Everything came up roses for Franklin-Simpson against Calloway County in their previous meeting back in November of 2018, as the team secured a 41-7 win. In that contest, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 41-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
