Baseball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Comes Up Short

If Sunrise Mountain was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Mingus on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs wound up with the same score they had in their last game (13-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Sunrise Mountain saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Madison, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Even though they lost, Sunrise Mountain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Canyon View, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will take on Paradise Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Paradise Valley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Canyon View, they will venture away from home to face off against Horizon at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
