Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Firroune Ouangueye and Desmond Ryle Lead Pike to Victory

Pike's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lawrence Central Bears by a score of 3-1.

While Pike might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Lawrence Central scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19.

Leading Pike to victory were Desmond Ryle and Firroune Ouangueye. Ryle had 12 digs and three aces, while Ouangueye had 12 kills, six digs, three aces, and one block. That's the most aces Ryle has posted since April 7th. Brycen Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

Pike's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-8. As for Lawrence Central, their loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Pike didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 defeat against Lawrence North on the 1st. As for Lawrence Central, they will challenge Ben Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
