Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Commanders vs. DMLK Panthers

The Kennedy Commanders will head out to challenge the DMLK Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Kennedy came up into this matchup off a tough 21-point loss back in December of 2024. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of DSST: College View by a score of 62-60 on Tuesday. Even though they lost, the Commanders' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.6 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Kennedy might have lost, but man, Anthony Zink was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Zink's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Oscar Castillo, who went 5 of 11 en route to 11 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Kennedy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, DMLK came up short against Denver West on Tuesday, falling 58-35. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Cowboys are ranked 19th).

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for DMLK, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.
