Volleyball Game Preview: Edwardsville Tigers vs. Maryville Christian Lions

Edwardsville is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Maryville Christian is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Tigers will host the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Edwardsville was able to grind out a solid victory over Belleville West, taking the game 2-0.

Edwardsville easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-19.

The win got Maryville Christian back to even at 8-8. As for Edwardsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Edwardsville was able to grind out a solid victory over Maryville Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
