Soccer Game Preview: Central Academy vs. Richmond

The Central Academy Cougars will take on the Richmond Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Central Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Central Academy had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt West Stanly on Tuesday. The Cougars' defense stepped up to hand the Colts a 4-0 shutout. Central Academy might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by four goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, Richmond didn't have quite enough to beat Sun Valley on Monday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, Richmond can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Sun Valley are ranked 63rd).

Central Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three games. As for Richmond, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11-2.
