After a string of eight wins, Countryside Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Oak Hall Eagles by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-7 back in February.
Clay Dees was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Dees wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jace Reustle, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Hunter Burgess was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 9-2. As for Oak Hall, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Countryside Christian will square off against Saint Francis Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Countryside Christian will need to watch out since Saint Francis Catholic has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Oak Hall, they will face off against Hawthorne at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
