Softball Recap: Cabool Bulldogs vs. Summersville Wildcats
Cabool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Summersville Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cabool of the 8-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April.
For Summersville's part, Riley Buttress made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 14 hits. Buttress has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Buttress was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Summersville got a big performance out of Elizabeth Havens, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Havens is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Jewett, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Cabool's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Summersville, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
