Basketball Game Preview: Paulding County Patriots vs. South Cobb Eagles

The Paulding County Patriots will take on the South Cobb Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Paulding County easily dispatched Adairsville last Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Paulding County fell just short of Campbell by a score of 54-52 on Tuesday. The Patriots' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Cobb). They walked away with a 67-54 win over Hillgrove on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Hawks are ranked 22nd).

South Cobb pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Paulding County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Paulding County came up short against South Cobb when the teams last played back in November of 2015, falling 70-61. Thankfully for Paulding County, Trey Wade (who went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks) won't be suiting up this time.
