Softball Recap: Harrisburg's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Harrisburg dropped their record down to 20-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnston City Indians. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Johnston City, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.

For Johnston City's part, not much got past Carlee Rogers, who gave up just a hit to keep Harrisburg off the board. Rogers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Peyton Johnson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Makenzie Mowery was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Harrisburg didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-0 defeat against Carmi-White County on the 21st. As for Johnston City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-12 win against Crab Orchard on the 17th.
