Union Area is a perfect 6-0 against Bishop Canevin since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Scotties will venture away from home to square off against the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Union Area has three straight victories, Bishop Canevin has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bishop Canevin's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Union Area hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Everything went the Scotties' way against Sewickley Academy on Monday as they made off with a 19-0 win. The Scotties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Mia Preuhs made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Aleah Kroesen was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Union Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bishop Canevin fell victim to South Side and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 21-0 to the Rams.
Union Area pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Bishop Canevin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Bishop Canevin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Union Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. It's a different story for Bishop Canevin, though, as they've only averaged .190. Will they be able to contain Union Area's hitters?
Union Area took their victory against Bishop Canevin in their previous meeting last Friday by a conclusive 20-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scotties since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
